Ok, so I recently just watched the trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which looks awesome, and, I didn't notice the first time round and a lot of you probably did. If not, if you listen to the song playing in the background of the whole trailer after Ultron's speech at the start, you'll notice that the song is actually an edited creepy slowed down version of the song 'I've Got No Strings' from Disney's Pinocchio, and Ultron recited lines from that song at the end of the trailer. Here's the trailer if you haven't seen it:
Now, I'm pretty sure people have their speculations, some of you expressing yours to me in response to mine. I have my speculations which I have stated below briefly, but in this journal entry I'm going to elaborate on what I have said, so that's my speculations and the reasoning behind each one, I figured this would be a good topic of discussion in order for me to find out what everyone's speculations are. I am in no way going to judge the film, as it is unfinished and unreleased, but you can possibly expect a film review after I've seen the film next year after it's completed and released.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. As I'm sure you have heard, Joss Whedan has confirmed that an Avenger will die in the finished film. So, first of all, let's talk about speculations for that. Which of the Avengers do you guys feel is a most likely candidate to be put up for the chopping block?
From what the trailer shows and what other information I have gathered, particularly from people who have read the comics, I believe that the most likely candidates are Captain America and Iron Man. I don't have much on the Steve Rodgers front, but what I do know is what we see in the trailer is the broken Captain America shield, and I've found out from people who read the comics that at some point Steve dies and Bucky takes on the Captain America mantle. Now, for all we know, this could be saved for Captain America 3, which I would be happy with.
Now, onto my reasoning for Iron Man. A lot of my speculations on Tony also involve why the rest of the Avengers seem so pissed off with him in the trailer. I feel like Tony messes up somehow. Now, in the trailer he says "It's the end... The end of the path I started us on", which leads me to believe that he made Ultron and it was Tony's fault that everyone is in danger, as Thor seemed particularly pissed off with him. I looked on Wikipedia to see what had been put down for the premise of the film and this is what I found:
"With S.H.I.E.L.D. destroyed and the Avengers needing a hiatus from stopping threats, Tony Stark attempts to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program with Ultron, a self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence. However, his plan backfires when Ultron decides that humans are the main enemy and sets out to eradicate them from Earth, and it is up to Iron Man, Captain America,Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, along with support from Nick Fury and Maria Hill, to stop him from enacting his plans. Along the way, the Avengers encounter the powerful twins, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, as well as the familiar Vision."
So I'm sure a lot of people know this by now. But if you link it all together it would make sense that the other Avengers are pissed off with Tony for messing up, because he did mess up. Now, Ultron recites 'There are no strings left on me' at the end of the trailer, which also links to his origin of being made by Tony in the film. So, I've spoken to people who have the read the comics about Ultron, and the basic description of him I could piece together from what I was told is that Ultron is a malevolent, deranged, frightening, batshit crazy AI, which leads me to believe he may go after Tony in particular.
In regards to Iron Man and Captain America, for all we know, we could be worried over nothing. One more speculation I have is about the Hulkbuster and the Hulk. I've seen people either debunk this speculation or not even think of it, but Ultron is an AI who can change bodies instantly which leaves me to believe that it could be Ultron in the Hulkbuster armor and not Tony, however Bruce Banner seems like he's going pretty mad, but, as I said, it's all theories and speculation until we know what happens next year. So far all we know is that Tony messes up some how, something may happen to Captain America, and Bruce Banner, and that Ultron goes batshit crazy and decides to try and commit genocide on the human race. Either way, whoever dies, it's obviously going to have an emotional impact on the rest of the team.
