Everlasting Chapter 5
Planning A Beach Trip
The next day I went into College with clear bags under my eyes from my lack of sleep over the past few nights, it had been the exact same nightmare every time. I never saw a face, but I always heard a voice, this mystery man knew my name and I didn't know how. What am I saying? It was only a nightmare, it wasn't going to happen, so I hoped. "Caelyn, is everything ok? You look out of it" June asked me, a worried look on her face. I looked at her and hesitated, I should say about the nightmares, it wasn't right to keep it from my friends. "I've been better, to be honest, I've been having the same nightmare every night ever since we found those bodies" I responded hesitantly, looking down at my hands.
"What happens in the nightmares? I suspected something was up, I'm surprised you're even coming in" Evelyn questioned. I sighed. "I keep getting attacked, I think it's a person who's committing these murders, it doesn't make sense, the nightmares make me all jumbled and confused..." I confessed, I could see the expressions on my friends' faces, my response clearly worried them more. "Caelyn, why didn't you say anything?" I hadn't noticed Alexander walk in until he asked me that. I looked at him as he sat down next to me. "I...I didn't want to worry you..." I responded, looking down again. He'd clearly been worried about me all this time, even without knowing about my nightmares.
So Caelyn had been keeping these nightmares a secret from me, not wanting to make me worry. But hearing about what happened in her nightmares had worried me, what worried me was how close to the truth about the murders her dreams were. My brother was going to target her eventually now he knew about her. I couldn't let Kane hurt her, I had to protect her.
"Why don't we take a trip to the beach in the half-term to take your mind off it?" Evelyn suggested. "That would be nice, if the weather report is right, we should have some great weather over the half-term, unlike this miserable rain we've been getting" Caelyn responded. I smiled at the perk up in her in response to the suggestion. "Do you want to come too Alexander?" June asked me. I looked at her as I spoke. "Sure, it'll be fun." I answered.
I smiled at Alexander, happy that he wanted to come. In my heart I'd hoped he would come with us, which was why I was happy when he said yes. A nice trip with my friends and Alexander was what I needed right now after what I'd been going through the past few days. I didn't like it when people worried about me. "So what shall we do at the beach? Have a swim? Bring food with us to snack on?" I suggested. "Taking a picnic with us is a great idea, maybe we can have some ice cream when we get there as well." June chipped in. I smiled in response to everyone chipping in their ideas. Alexander smiled as well. "Let's all chip in on the picnic, so there's food and drink in there we all like" Evelyn chipped in as well.
"Yeah, that's a good idea. We should all gather at one place to discuss it and see if other people want to come as well" I responded. This beach trip was starting to sound fun already, especially since Alexander had agreed to come with us, and my mum should be fine with it, since I'm going with other people. "Sure, the more the merrier" Alexander said, smiling at me. I smiled back.
Our last day at College before the half-term holiday had gone so fast. When I got home I asked my mum about going to the beach, and she had agreed, as long as we stayed together.
